SUNDAY THOUGHT 03.04.22

“Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you

[Matthew 7 : 7]

What a wonderful things doors are, what they convey is a sense of strength and security, they can also be so welcomingor off-putting, they can be opened or closed. They can be embracing or shut everyone out, allowing an entrance or an exit.

The large doors of the Church in Condorrat, to me, are welcoming, partly because of their light colour and because of those who stand at the door to greet everyone with warmth. The greatest event for me was just after the Lockdown when we could open the Church Doors again. What Joy and Celebration to be able to Worship together in the Sanctuary with the Fellowship of Believers.

The doorway in the Church have had so many enter and exit, through the years. worshippers from generations past, all faithful, all of whom have built the church to what it is today. All the families who have come in to a wedding as two separate families and left as one family, joined as surely as theBride and Groom. It is awesome and humbling to think of all those who have come and gone, all the Milestones of life and death which have marked in Christs Church here in Condorrat.

Yet there is another door which is much more personal, the door Jesus talks about, the Divine Door on which to knock when we need the Lord. Sometimes we get ourselves into situations which are difficult or confusing and we spend all ofour energy on trying to fix everything ourselves. When we get to the end of our tether, we remember Jesus and His words. To Knock and to ask Jesus to come into our lives and to wait on Him and His Blessed support.

It needs faith to do that, and it needs trust to do that and the patience to wait on the Lord. When we do these, we find that the big trouble shrinks to something we can cope with. We find that Jesus comes alongside and leads out of the maze of worries, that when you and He work together, great things can surely be done. Yes, doors are wonderful things and I pray that You will always remember the words of Jesus, Ask, Seek, Knock and walk with the Lord.

LET US PRAY

LORD OF LIFE,

WE HAND OVER ALL OUR CARES TO YOU

WE KNOW THAT YOU ARE ALWAYS READY

TO LISTEN

TO COMFORT

TO GUIDE

AND WE GIVE THANKS

FOR THE DIVINE DOOR

EVER READY TO BE OPENED

WE ASK THIS IN JESUS NAME

AMEN
